Homeschooled Sirens ~ Weekly Jiu Jitsu Class for Ages 5-

Siren Jiu Jitsu’s homeschool program offers a welcoming space for kids ages 5–14 to learn self-defense, build confidence, and make friends—all in a once-weekly class designed specifically for homeschooling families. Led by a certified K–12 teacher, our sessions are structured, supportive, and tailored to meet the needs of every student, including those on the autism spectrum. We focus on creating an inclusive, positive environment where kids of all abilities can thrive—developing coordination, discipline, and real-life self-defense skills through Brazilian jiu jitsu. At Siren, your child will feel seen, supported, and empowered—on the mats and beyond.

Coach Tim leads our homeschool jiu jitsu class at Siren Jiu Jitsu. As a licensed special education K-12 instructor, he brings a wealth of educational experience and a caring approach to every class. Tim is passionate about creating a positive, supportive environment where homeschooled students can thrive both on and off the mats.

Family and Personal Experience

Tim is the proud father of two daughters, both of whom are grey and white belts in jiu jitsu and are homeschooled. His Daughters are diverse learners.

Siren offers month-to-month jiu jitsu memberships with no long-term contracts, plus one free trial class for new students. Our flexible membership structure allows families to commit at their own pace while ensuring consistent, quality jiu jitsu instruction. No contracts mean you can focus on your children's martial arts growth without financial pressure. We also offer a sibling  20% off discount, where each additional student from the same household is 20% off the full price.

Each hour long jiu jitsu class includes dynamic warm-ups, age-appropriate skills learning, partner practice, and fun martial arts games designed for ages 5-14. Our structured yet playful approach keeps young students engaged while learning essential Brazilian jiu jitsu fundamentals. Every class balances serious martial arts instruction with age-appropriate activities that make learning jiu jitsu enjoyable.

Brazilian jiu jitsu is a contact sport, so we ask parents to either stay during  classes or remain within a 5-minute radius of our Newport News location.
